What we welcome

Good topics include resourceful outings, outdoor pastimes, thoughtful comparisons of ordinary kit, ways to plan a relaxed day and the background behind familiar ways of being outdoors. We look for specific ideas with a useful point of view, not broad claims that an activity suits everyone.

A useful pitch

Tell us the working title, the central question or idea, why it will interest our readers and how you would handle it. Explain what is distinctive about your approach and flag any specialist knowledge, permissions or first-hand testing a finished piece would require. Do not send confidential information or make unsupported claims.
